The Professional Women’s Council, Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce has been enhancing the lives of the community since 2003. PWC is a network of women supporting each other and building relationships, businesses and futures within Northeast Florida. This group partners with various organizations and meets the needs of many women with community involvement projects.
The committee gave a baby shower for 30 women at Gateway’s Women’s Recovery Program and collected more than 2,000 baby items for these women. The PWC Reach Out to Senior Women program encouraged more than 300 members to engage with senior women in at Taylor Residences to provide entertainment, companionship, encouragement and activities.
Through PWC’s Adopt a Room program at Community Connections, eight recently employed homeless women were provided with freshly decorated rooms. Members of the committee have also worked to collect more than 100 prom dresses for young ladies attending the PACE Center for Girls. The women of PWC have contributed more than 436 hours of service last year, providing hope for women in need.
The Professional Women’s Council will be receiving the Planned Acts of Kindness Award at Celebrate!GOOD this Thursday.
