Clyde Garrett – Committed to Preserving Our Land

GarrettClyde Garret is a full-time volunteer at North Florida Land Trust where he handles administrative and accounting services. In 2013 alone, Clyde volunteered more than 1,500 hours of his time with North Florida Land Trust.

Clyde’s background as a commercial appraiser and his expertise in accounting has allowed staff to concentrate on land preservation work. As a result, North Florida Land Trust has been able to increase the number of projects performed. This gives Clyde, an advocate of camping and being in nature, a great deal of pleasure, knowing these places are being preserved for generations to come.

Garrett 2Every day, Clyde travels by bus from Jacksonville Beach to Neptune Beach. Clyde is vision-impaired and he utilizes special equipment to enlarge the computer screen when he volunteers.

Though he has had to overcome these challenges, he is committed to producing quality work in support of North Florida Land Trust. For his commitment to preserving our public lands, Clyde will receive the HandsOn Earth Award at Celebrate!GOOD 2014.
