Teen Helps Kids Fighting Leukemia Improve Quality of Life

xuZixuan “Cecca” Xu became the volunteer project leader at Sun-Yat Sen Center in China in the summer of 2011.

In this role, she organized meetings and projects, raising $600 over three months to help children with leukemia. With the group, Cecca worked to improve the quality of life for these children, something she considers to be her biggest accomplishment thus far.

 

 

DSC06975_conew1Cecca is currently serving on the Youth Service Leadership Council working to address some of Jacksonville’s most pressing social concerns. She is very passionate about addressing poverty, violence, and environmental issues.

Cecca is receiving the HandsOn Youth in Action Award at Celebrate!GOOD 2014.
